AC Milan defender Simon Kier was disappointed with the result of their 3–4 defeat to Fiorentina as they conceded four goals in their first game of the 2021-22 season.

Kier admitted he was deeply disappoint with the 3–4 defeat to Fiorentina. With the last four conceding goals in the Milan derby defeat to Inter in February 2020.

Football is a game of mistakes. We conceded four goals tonight. For the first time this season It obviously hurts a centre-back like me.”

“We have to learn from this game, work hard and use that as a motivation. We still have another big game to play. And we have to keep going,” Kier told Sky Italia.

“Of course the coach was furious. Everything he said was important. Many things we have to learn from that. We lost four goals Obviously that’s something that needs to be improve. We had the chance to score five or six goals. But losing four is too much.”

On the substitution: “I did not remove Gabbia because Kalulu as center-left would have struggled and then we should have prepared the game in a certain different way. I put Florenzi on because he is more precise in serving the strikers“.

On Atletico Madrid: “I never speak after the match, whereas today I did. The boys know the messages of this defeat. Starting tomorrow we will think about the Champions League, I don’t know how many chances we have to qualifying but we want to win a big match” .

On his contract renewal: “When the time comes it will be done. It has never been a problem for me, I am in no hurry. I am disappoint for tonight, but this defeat will do us good. We have the possibility to do better. Even in a defeat I have seen a team that has character, personality and strong players. We will fight until the end for the first spots“.
